ITSMIG e.V. founded

On May 14, 2008, the registered association ITSMIG e.V. (IT Security made in Germany) was founded at the Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology. The founding members consist of renowned companies from the German IT security industry.

The association represents the collective economic, commercial, technological and scientific interests of the member companies towards politics, the economic system, science and the general public at German, European and global levels while maintaining legal competitive order. The association is residing in Berlin.  

The tasks of the association comprise specifically:

• The advancement of the members’ export activities, prioritized by target regions and groups

• The advancement of the members’ cooperation when submitting tenders in the target regions

• The representation of members’ interests in the target regions and their respective target groups

• The representation of the members’ interests towards other associations and also directly towards international organisations, governments and the political system in general

• The representation of the members towards corporate actors and the public, especially in the target regions

• The organisation and provisioning of cooperation platforms for the members
  Providing the members with information about relevant developments

• The advancement and development of markets in the IT security field

The Federal Ministry of the Interior and the Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology agreed to assume patronage for the registered association ITSMIG and organise its political backing.

The work of the association will seamlessly continue the activities of the identically-named initiative. This is especially true for the work done by Thomas Hoppe at the ITSMIG Middle East Office in Abu Dhabi.  

At the foundation meeting the following persons were elected as the association’s executive committee:

• Dr. Rainer Baumgart, vice-chairman (secunet Security Networks AG)

• Ammar Alkassar, treasurer (SIRRIX AG)

• Klaus-Peter Breitenbach, committee member (Applied Security GmbH)

• Andy Müller-Maguhn, committee member (Gesellschaft für Sichere Mobile Kommunikation mbH, GSMK)

• Bernhard Schneck, committee member (GeNUA, Gesellschaft für Netzwerk- und UNIX-Administration mbH)
